ETCP Rigging Computer-Based Deadline Approaching
2006-05-09

The next application deadline for the ETCP computer-based rigging examinations (arena and theatre) is June 1, 2006. Accepted candidates will be allowed to sit for their exam(s) in the third quarter (seating in July, August, and September). Those who pass this rigorous test will become ETCP Certified Riggers - and will be recognized as the industry’s best. Many employers are now searching for ETCP Certified Riggers online and have stated they may require certification in the future.

After a qualified rigger has been accepted, the candidate will be sent information on how to schedule his/her examination(s) at a site, date, and time that is available and convenient for him/her. The next deadline is September 1, 2006 for the fourth quarter (seating in October, November, and December).

The rigging certification examinations are available at centers throughout the U.S. and Canada. View these testing sites online, as well as obtain candidate information, including eligibility requirements, application forms, and deadlines, on the ETCP website (http://etcp.esta.org). If you would like the examination information and application forms mailed to you, please contact Katie Geraghty, ETCP Certification Director, at 212-244-1505 or kgeraghty@esta.org with your contact information.

The rigging certifications are designed for highly experienced riggers (rigging supervisors, high steel riggers, flypersons, etc). Qualified riggers can apply for either one or both exams. Individuals must meet eligibility requirements to apply for the exam(s).

The rigging examination will also be administered in conjunction with the LDI tradeshow in October 2006 in Las Vegas, NV. Interested applicants must submit the "October 2006 Rigging Application Form" postmarked no later than July 1, 2006. Also, the first ETCP Entertainment Electrician examination will be given at the LDI conference. The application deadline is also July 1, 2006, and more examination and application information is available online.
