CM-ET Basic Motor Online Course:
Lodestars and Prostars | Part # OL-ET

Newly Updated, Interactive Course Content!
CM-ET has been offering training for entertainment professionals for over 30 years. In addition to our expanded curriculum of hands-on training, we have now developed a host of online learning opportunities, tailored to the entertainment industry.

Who should take the class?
This is a great course for beginners or anyone needing a refresher. For those individuals looking to take the more advanced hands-on CM-ET Motor Certification Technician course, this class is the perfect place to start.

Course Overview
This two-part online course addresses the following topics, as they relate to CM-ET Classic & Next Generation Lodestars, and Prostars.

  • Hoist specifications, benefits, & features
  • Safe Handling & Use of hoists
  • Current Industry Regulations & Standards, from a global perspective
  • Inspection and Testing criteria
  • Functions of mechanical and electrical components
  • Adjusting limit switches
  • Inspecting and adjusting the brake
  • Guidance on preventative maintenance

Testing & Completion
At the conclusion of this training, students will be tested on the material covered. Upon successful completion of the testing, participants will be emailed a Certificate of Training. Certified ETCP Technicians can earn 4 renewal credits for taking this course.

The course is $199 per person.

CM-ET, Road Technician Certification Training 

For over 30 years, Columbus McKinnon-Entertainment Technology has been conducting one-day classes to help familiarize users on the do’s, do not’s and general maintenance of the Lodestar. To follow that tradition, this one-day class consists of discussion of electrical theory and how it affects the hoist, the disassembly of the hoist discussing the function of every part and re-assembling it. At the end of the class, participants should feel comfortable being able to adjust the limit switches, adjusting the brake gap and being able to trouble shoot any problems in the field. At the successful completion of the program, participants receive a “Certificate of Attendance”.

Tools will be provided but it is recommended you bring your own. 

Target Audience:
 Riggers and service technicians who want to increase their knowledge of Lodestars and their maintenance

1.  Electrical Theory
2.  General Maintenance
3.  Inspection Recommendations
4.  Basic Troubleshooting
5.  Complete teardown 1-ton Lodestar
6.  Training will include the New 2010 Lodestar

Cost:
The cost is $595 per person, hotel and transporation is not included.

Upon successful completion of the certification class, the rigger should feel competent enough that when he comes across an issue with the Lodestar or Prostar in the field, to remedy the problem immediately or to determine whether the motor should be replaced and sent back to the shop for repairs.

CM-ET, Mega School 

CM-ET Ultimate Mega School / 10-Day Course

This one-of-a-kind class combines our 5-day Mega School with a 5-day Rope Access Certification course. It’s the ultimate entertainment rigger training! Seating is limited. Sign up today!

Course Description:
This five-day course will cover everything in our Road Hoist Technician Certification course as well as our Entertainment Rigging Seminar course. To register for this class, individuals must have successfully completed the one-day CM-ET Basic Introduction and Maintenance School within the past three years and work with Lodestar or Prostar hoists on a regular basis.

The first half of this ETCP-recognized training course will cover all aspects of the design and operation of hoists, maintenance needs, inspection requirements and troubleshooting procedures. This course also delves deep into electrical theory and troubleshooting of the popular Lodestar and Prostar hoists.

Participants will receive 12 Renewal Credits of their ETCP Certification. Upon passing, participants will also receive a CM-ET certification card and document, both of which are good for five years. The second part of this course is an intense exploration of rigging terminology, equipment and concepts for the entertainment industry.

Rope Access Certification Course

Course Description: 
Rope Access Professionals is proud to team up with Columbus McKinnon to offer another training and certification to the robust Mega School curriculum. Rope Access Professionals has been training students to certify to become a SPRAT Rope Access Tech since 2010, teaming up with hundreds of students and numerous companies.

The Rope Access Certification Course will be a 5-day course consisting of four days of training and one day of evaluation. This class will encompass everything a prospective student will need to understand and demonstrate the skills needed to achieve rope access certification.  From understanding anchors to performing a rescue of your fellow technician, it's all covered and practiced.
